You know why? 'Cuz I couldn't for the life of me think of how to make one. I had distinct memories of myself pushing up a stool to the counter(I started cooking at a tender age) and assembling lovely culinary masterpieces. Or at least they were for a 6-year-old.
And here I am, years and years later, and I can't even think of what to put in one, besides the obvious:
lots and lots of ice cream.
I had to call my friend Kate, while in the grocery store, to voice my concerns and ask for advice.
"What the heck goes in a ice cream cake?"
"Do I put frosting or whipped cream on top?"
"Is there supposed to be a crust?"
"Is there supposed to be something in between the layers?"
"HOW DID I GET SO OLD AND UNIMAGINATIVE?!?"*Takes deep breath*
The moral of this story is always have an amazing friend you can call to give you great advice.
Sprinkles as a layer? Why not! Fudge and whipped cream? Even better!
And in closing, here are some beautiful ice cream cakes, so no one ends up like me:
(ice cream sandwich cake)
(cherry ice cream cake)
(choc honeycomb cake)
Now go forth and make an awesome ice cream cake. And save a piece for me.
